fakes are never in fashion!!

| |

if you remember before, i told you i was so into prada when i was 20 living in japan. unfortunately i didn't want to shell out an arm, leg, and numerous strands of hair for Britney Spear's future wigs for this bag back then. what's a guy to do who wants a prada bag? the answer is simple..

1. wait until your winter break
2. buy a ticket to Korea
3. go to Itaewon
4. buy myself a real life replica.

yes you heard me girls. my first designer bag was a fake! *the shame* so is my unfortunate past filled with lies and mystery about my "trip" to Korea. that bag lasted me an entire 3 months....until it fell apart and ripped. that goes to show you, fakes are never in fashion and in fact should be avoided at all cost. the money and time i spent flying to korea to go shopping, could have been better spent at a local japanese dept store getting showered with ever-so-glorious customer service. "irashaimase!"

oh how i live with the guilt trying to pretend i had a real frada. i eventually did get my first prada bag (a beautiful linen piece with black leather trim and silver hardware - i even saw brad pitt carrying it once in a magazine) at a japanese store and paid the equivalent of $780 for it. and back then at 20, it was my life's savings. thus an obsession with designer goods is born.

so i urge you, NO, i tell you not to even think of purchasing a fake. if you even bring your LOU, Guchi, or Frada with you, i will rip it out of your hands and slap you with it.

..it's good to know that companies like Hearst and Bazaar magazine have establishments to rid the world of fakes! they have an awesome site called Fakesareneverinfashion.com. as stated on the site: "The Harper’s Bazaar Anticounterfeiting Alliance is dedicated to creating awareness of the illegal activities directly tied to fake products. Their mission is to deter shoppers from purchasing counterfeit products by educating them on the egregious criminal activities funded by these sales, including child labor, terrorism and drug cartels." don't you love it fashion with a cause?

what i also love is that Bazaar is also hosting a t-shirt competition called "We're T'd Off" where you can submit your design of the phrase "fake is never in fashion." your winning design could win you exposure across multiple magazine ads, and a t-shirt custom and sold. what are you waiting for? gets to drawing and be sure to be stylish when you're doing it. nothing but you, a pair of louboutins and a pen. hot.
