not your original, marc jacobs pan am explorer bag

you know ever since i peeped into my father's old collection of memorabilia, i've been obsessed with stuff like old trucker hats, vintage velour shirts, and Pan Am bags. the latter item, i'd like to think set the trend for what we refer to now-a-day as the messenger bag. even when designers come up with funky bags and cool designs, the basic concept and shape still come back to the "Pan Am" shape. take for instance my LV. while wrapped in nice buttery leather, the shape is ever so reminiscent of a Pan Am bag. so it's fun to see designers embrace this bag ( the name and the shape) time and time again.

while i love that Marc Jacobs paid homage to the original, i can't stop but think i'm getting a little tired of seeing his tired name written over everything. yes we get it. your name is Marc Jacobs. you do bags and clothes. and write your name all over stuff. sheesh.
